Membership Benefits
Membership in NEKAAL includes the following benefits:
- Astronomy Night at the club’s Farpoint Observatory (open to the public)
- Monthly astronomy presentations at the Topeka Shawnee County Library (open to the public).
- Fellowship and sharing knowledge and experiences with others interested in astronomy and the night sky (with novices to experts).
- Expert advice for those interested in purchasing a telescope and other equipment.
- Use of equipment at Farpoint Observatory (training and six consecutive months of membership required for some telescopes) and the opportunity to check out telescopes.
- Member-only tutorials and workshops on various topics of interest (examples include astrophotography and tracking asteroids).
- Significantly reduced fees for subscriptions to the magazines Astronomy and Sky and Telescope (claim your discount — members only) and for membership in the national organization Astronomical League which includes a subscription to its quarterly publication Reflector
- Hosting to share your astronomy related images in the members gallery.
